Tycoon Humphrey Kariuki’s business interests bringing him close to being nabbed

Latest information over the wherebouts of a man wanted in one of the highest thefts in kenya has revealed that Police have said they believe Humphrey Kariuki travelled last month to Zambia, where he was reported to have business interests.

“We suspect he is still there,” said a senior official in the probe team.His local associates were said to be seeking legal advice from various lawyers on the way forward.

Also wanted are two of his managers.Mr Kariuki has business interests in East and Central Africa.

Inspector General Joseph Boinnet and DCI head George Kinoti were among the team of detectives who, on Friday, descended on the company and seized fake and counterfeit proucts worth Ksh 1.2 billion.

Reports from KRA stated that the goods included an estimated 21 million counterfeit excise stamps and 312,000 litres of illicit products.

DCI Kinoti also ordered his detectives to probe how the businessman has been smuggling ethanol from Tanzania bleeding the country of a lucrative revenue stream.

“We want to establish the exact components used in making the concentrates, their sources as well as quantities,” ordered Kinoti.

According to Githii, the country loses close to KShs 4 Million for every 20,000 litres of ethanol smuggled into Kenya.

Many have since lamented on twitter that even if Humprey gets arrested, he will not be jailed due to high power of corruption in the country, do you agree with this?
