South Africa’s  Delight as Soweto Choir Secures 3rd Grammy’s Award


Victory is worth celebrating but some victories are worth more celebrations than others. When a win is at a global level, then you know the winner is extraordinary and deserves more praise.

This is happening in South Africa after the Soweto choir proudly secured at third Grammy’s award on 11th of February 2019.

The choir which has received various awards came out victorious at this year’s Grammy Awards winning Best World Music album for their album titled “Freedom”.


The group of talented, dedicated, vigorous singers took home their third Grammy award after being nominated five times in this category.

Album producers Diniloxolo Ndlakuse, Shimmy Jiyane, Mary Mulovhedzi, and Mulalo Mulovhedzi took to the stage to receive the prestigious award on behalf of Soweto Gospel Choir. The choir is receiving lots of praise on twitter.

The group was formed 17 years and has made tremendous progress having released five albums. Their albums Blessed, African Spirit and Freedom won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album in 2007, 2008 and 2019, respectively.
