Kenya’s standard gauge railway between Mombasa and Nairobi has been listed among the most magnificent rail tours.
The SGR was ranked 7th according to the Telegraph. The rail line lies along the Maasai-themed Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge offering great views of Kilimanjaro.
The Kilaguni Serena Safari lodge along the standard gauge railway is designed to fit well with the rugged Savannah. The lodge also overlooks a waterhole visited by herds of buffalo and elephants daily.

The construction and the successful completion of SGR has Kenya praise from regional Heads of State who now want South Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda to follow suit.
“The Mombasa-Nairobi section of the SGR is already transporting an increasing number of passengers and cargo,” the leaders noted in a joint communique released at the close of the summit held in Nairobi.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has been the best ambassador for the SGR. During the December Holidays, the president told the country that he boarded the SGR to Mombasa where he spent the Christmas and New Year.
