Mike Sonko joins the search for missing activist with a handsome reward

Have you spotted the missing Dandora activist anywhere? You might grow richer for helping the public find her! Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Monday joined in the search for missing activist Caroline Mwatha, promising a Ksh300, 000 reward for anyone who provides information about her whereabouts.

The founder member of Dandora Community Justice Center disappeared from her home in Dandora on January 6, under mysterious circumstances.

She was last seen at her house on Wednesday morning, but since then, her phone has remained off with her whereabouts still unknown.

On Sunday, Caroline’s father, Stanislas Mbai, told journalists that the family had searched for her at Kenyatta National Hospital, Mama Lucy Hospital, Dandora hospital and even City Mortuary.

“We are doing everything we can. We believe she is still alive because my son and her friends went to look at every mortuary, but she was not there,” he commented.

Amnesty International has asked the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

“Amnesty International Kenya calls upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the National Police Service to thoroughly investigate Carol’s disappearance, establish her whereabouts and deliver her to her friends and family,” executive director Irũngũ Houghton wrote in a statement.

Detectives assured that they were waiting to receive the activist’s call history from her service provider to shed more light into the investigations.

There are suspicions that Carol’s heavy involvement in the documentation of extrajudicial killings in Dandora may have contributed to her disappearance.
