Governor John Nyagarama, his deputy bury their differences through handshake

Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama and his Deputy Amos Nyaribo have buried their differences and vowed to work together in their final term in office.

The declaration of the two comes after bitter start that characterised their early days in office after they returned for a second term in August 2017.The two were locked in controversy over appointments.

Last Thursday, it was a totally different picture of the two who re-united less than two months when Nyaribo returned from India where he had stayed for over five months while undergoing specialised treatment. They said their focus will be on improving agriculture, roads, health facilities and providing enough water.

In August last year, Nyaribo accused Governor John Nyagarama of trashing their pre-election pact as equal partners in running the county government.

Mr Nyaribo wrote a letter complaining of not being consulted by Mr Nyagarama in major decisions, including the reinstatement of County Secretary Eric Onchana who had been sacked.

Nyaribo said in the letter that Nyagarama had refused to pick his phone calls and did not recognise his position as an equal partner in county governance. Before last year’s polls, Nyaribo and Nyagarama signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to run the county government with equal powers.
