Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today invited  Nairobians to turn up for the monthly clean up exercise.

The ongoing Nairobi City County monthly clean-up exercise  is taken  up in all the 85 Wards.

The climax of each of the events is usually in one of the wards, and Kawangware Primary School was chosen today.

Last year, while launching the exercise, Capital FM reports that Sonko urged residents to turn up in large numbers in their various wards whenever the exercise is carried out.

“This is our city, lets all work together to make it clean,” he pleaded when he launched the exercise in Kayole.

Among the areas he supervised the clean-up include Westlands, City Cabanus, Dagoreti South among others.

The county government provided equipment such as brooms, wheelbarrows, and spades and refreshments to encourage Nairobi residents to take part in the exercise.

This initiative has earned him recognition and honours even beyond the country. It was through his works that he was appointed as the good Deeds Goodwill Ambassador in Kenya.

Earlier today, Sonko led Nairobians through the cleaning exercise. The governor said that he was happy to note that every month, more & more residents respond positively to the call for a clean & healthy environment.

He also added that their  efforts as Nairobians have won accolades across the globe with visitors, business partners & tourists appreciating our journey.
