this is how a predator has turned to a prey in Kiambu

Police officers play a great role in the society ensuring there is peace and dealing with law breakers. Officers at Kiambu were caught to surprise after finding their colleague being the law breaker. They were forced to arrest him after finding him in possession of stolen goods and rolls of bhang.

Two Ethiopians, Temesgen Daka and Tesfaye Shebeshi gave the officers some hints leading to a search operation where the items were discovered. The Ethiopians said that their valuables had been stolen by officers who had arrested them.  This  forced the officers to storm the house belonging to an inspector in Kahara area of Kiambu.

The Ethiopians had been confronted on the ground that they were in Kenya illegally and later robbed  all their valuables by the officers. In the process of being manhandled by the arresting officers, a wristwatch and laptop were grabbed from them. The items were not recorded at the police station when the foreigners were taken into custody as is required by the law.

Its after the Ethiopians complained that the arresting officers were questioned about the stolen items which they denied having any knowledge about them. Kiambaa sub county OCPD, Ngare Riko ordered a search operation for the items in the officers’ house where the items were found.

Its during the search operation that 22 rolls of bhang were discovered in the house of one officer, Inspector Nyagah. An OB was filed reading, ”An inventory was prepared and signed by the above-mentioned officers and also witnessed by AP sergeant Jackson Kimanthi and Administration Police sergeant Josphine Migaine.”

It looks like the police officers we depend on in maintaining peace in our country by dealing with law breakers have become law breakers themselves. After a law breaker is arrested does it mean she or he doesn’t have the right to be with his or her valuables? The items one owns shouldn’t be involved in whatever crime one has committed. Police officers have been in the past involved in many crimes and as the country is struggling to fight corruption its seem the officers are fighting to maintain corruption in the country.

Who will we run to if our officers have turned to criminals?
