Make your own money Power in Groups

In an era where the young generation in particular are constantly looking for ways to make money  in the easiest ways possible they could come across.Young ladies falling into the predicament of soliciting themselves in favour for the posh life they so perceive as the ultimate lifestyle which is very evident on social media.Young men  also luring, women old enough to be their mothers and risking infections and other diseases .Has thinking out of the box resorted to us degrading ourselves and throwing any possible morals out the window together with our senses.

“I am a fashion designer and want to boost my business,” says Obahiambo, who wears one of her own black dresses, emblazoned with red floral patterns. “I can use the chama to get money even when I’m broke.” Her group is Chama Wezadada (Able Women Chama), who practise various methods of both saving and lending money. Meeting in a dim backroom in Kawangware slum, they tell Al Jazeera the cash most often goes to support their children and businesses. In Kenya, stable jobs are scarce.Seventy-seven percent of the population is estimated to be employed in the informal sector, and half of them are women according to a 2012 report by the Institute for Economic Affairs (IEA).

Amrik Heyer, head of research at FSD stated “Chamas are a phenomenon generally associated with the rise of the capitalist economy and commodification,” she says. The groups are rooted in community relations – Chama Wezadada expanded by word of mouth – and are highly dependent on trust. The groups can simultaneously offset risk more cheaply than commercial loans, and also provide support to members, Heyer explains. She says: “For women, social capital is the biggest and most important asset that they can leverage, and they have maximized that asset to get access to credit.”

They are a lot of ways to earn a living out here in the streets, some degrading in nature and others morally upright.I will not be a judge of what you do , but the best things comes with time to those who are patient ,we all just have to pray for grace and work to the best of your ability.
