Man Utd fans spot moment Marcus Rashford proved why he’s picked ahead of Romelu Lukaku

Of all the Manchester United players who have improved under the interim management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Marcus Rashford is perhaps the most obvious.

Having scored just four goals in 20 appearances under Jose Mourinho, Rashford has now scored six in 10 since the arrival of Solskjaer following his strike in the first half of Sunday’s game at Leicester.

The England forward’s form has been completely transformed since the arrival of the Norwegian, who Rashford – as a boyhood United fan – would have idolised growing up.

And his strike at Leicester was a perfect example of his newfound confidence under the new boss.

After Ricardo Pereira carelessly gave the ball away, Paul Pogba lofted a brilliant pass to Rashford, who killed it stone dead before brilliantly firing home past Kasper Schmeichel and into the bottom corner.

It was a goal that stunning in its simplicity, and underlined just why Solskjaer has opted to start Rashford ahead of Romelu Lukaku, who was a favourite under Mourinho and started almost every game.

But according to plenty of fans, one of Lukaku’s major flaws is his first touch and control, something that Rashford clearly doesn’t lack given his goal.

Does this prove why Rashford starts ahead of the Belgian?

And why Solskjaer is right to persevere with him upfront?
