The National Government has allocated a 660 million Kenyan Shillings to regenerate top two sites to world class standards & attract more tourists to Mombasa and the coast region.
These are two sites in Mombasa (Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach and Mama Ngina Waterfront Park, which are named after the First President and his wife respectively.” that with no doubt receive hundreds of thousands of local and international tourists every year.
The planned development of Mama Ngina drive into a modern waterfront with a boardwalk and other recreation facilities is one of the most anticipated by the Mombasa residents having that it is one of the places that people go to, to spend their leisure time.
The regeneration will be undertaken by Kenya wildlife service in conjunction with the County Government of Mombasa.
Mama Ngina Waterfront Park, has benefited from 460 million and it holds the rich history of Mombasa town that dates back to the 15th century.
For Mombasa County, the Mama Ngina water park means revamping the tourism sector as well as one of the ways to create jobs entrepreneurship opportunities as well as give locals and tourists a perfect scenery.
The symposium brought together National & County governments, hotel owners, investors, business leaders, experts in various distinct fields to brainstorm on how to rebrand & repackage the beach product.
Focus must be on enhancing the Beach experience, product development, benefits to local people and integrate them into the sector.
The Tourism CS also revealed the government’s plan is also to define the Coast & make the beach destination distinct, to enable us not only increase our numbers but offer memorable experiences.
