How losses have affect Arsenal boss

Arsenal’s Unai Emery has revealed how losses usually affect him negatively and added that top four finish remains their biggest target.

Speaking to Soccer AM, Emery says it takes longer for him to absorb the results whenever his side fails to win a game. He added that it is always a bit hard within the 24hrs after the loss but he would find some peace after watching the game on the video and thereafter start planning for the next assignments.

“Like when I push the players positively when we lose, I need a person around me to be positive for me. The first 24 hours after I lose the match I am not Unai Emery. Every time I am saying: ‘It is not good, it is not good.’ Usually 24 hours after, and when I watch the match again on video, is the moment I can stand up and continue to find a new ambition and new motivation to do better.” Emery said.

Emery joined Arsenal before the season started to replace long-serving Arsene Wenger. He lost the first two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea before going without losing in 22 games. The Spaniard admits that he has fallen in love with the stadium atmosphere in England.

“It is competitive, and I love very much the atmosphere in each stadium, and when we play away there are a lot travelling with us, the Arsenal supporters. The atmosphere is very big, and the stadiums are full every match. We feel the big, special moments each match. In our own stadium and also when we are away because we are well supported.” Emery added.

He reiterated that top-four finish remains the sole goal of Arsenal with Chelsea and Manchester United their stiff competitors as it the races stands now.

“It’s our first objective. We know it is difficult, but for example, we played Chelsea, six points ahead of us, and we said it was a big opportunity to close the gap, and we won. Now we are with Chelsea and Manchester United.” The former Sevilla and PSG boss concluded.

They play Man City on Sunday at the Etihad.
