Klopp blames snow for recent slip

Jurgen Klopp has blamed the snow on the pitch for their 1-1 draw against Leicester City on Wednesday.

A win would have seen the Reds open a seven-point gap over second-placed Manchester City who had lost their match away to Newcastle United.

The gap now is five points and Klopp has defended his team saying that the conditions prevented his players from playing at the intensity they are known for.

“The situation was what everybody saw, it started snowing and the pitch was completely okay but then it was full of hail wet snow, it was difficult. We have 80 of the ball only one team suffered.  It was clear our groundstaff tried to clear it but didn’t have enough manpower, realised how difficult it was.  There was no plan, nobody told them, I can promise or swear nobody said don’t clear their box, it’s an advantage as well because it’s better to defend. We cannot change that, in England, people are not used to it in Germany you give shovels to everyone even in the stands. In the end, it was a bit better.” Klopp said.

“Both not (ready). No return for Joe (Gomez). Trent (Alexander-Arnold) is getting better really close, I hope in full training next week. But not for now.” Klopp confirmed.

Liverpool will play West Ham United next.
