Raila shares a toast of Uhuru Development Agenda with Nyanza leaders

A section of leaders from Luo Nyanza on Tuesday met Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga briefly at his Capitol Hill office in Nairobi.

Through his twitter handle, the former premier who doubles as the African Union special envoy for infrastructural development said that the leaders briefed him on the coordination and monitoring of development projects initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta within the Nyanza region.

“Received a brief from Nyanza leaders at Capitol Hill Square on the coordination and monitoring of development projects initiated by President @UKenyatta.”, read the tweet.

Among those present during the briefing was the Kisumu governor Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o, who recently resumed duty of serving his county residents after a few weeks of absence due to an illness that saw him jetted to Nairobi for detailed medical tests and special attention.

This comes hardly a day after leaders from the region held a closed-door meeting with the Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr Fred Matiang’i in the presence of a section of Cabinet Secretaries and Chief Administrative Secretaries.

Led by the National Assembly minority leader John Mbadi, Migori Senator George Ochilo Ayacko and Homabay County Women Representative Gladys Wanga, the leaders discussed ways of fast-tracking some of the development projects initiated by the president in his tour to the Nyanza region.

Also present during the Monday meeting were Seme Member of Parliament (MP) James Nyikal, Samuel Atandi (Alego Usonga), Anthony Oluoch (Mathare), and former Kisumu County Women Representative, now nominated Senator Rose Ogendo Nyamunga.

Among the projects initiated by the president in the region are the Ahero interchange and Universal Health Care Programme which were initiated in Kisumu County.
