The Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has stated his wish to keep the coveted teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi at the club amid continued interest from German giants Bayern Munich.

Hudson-Odoi, who has just 18 months to run on his contract with Chelsea, has been the subject of a number of bids from Bayern and is said to have handed in a transfer request in a bid to force a move.

But the Blues, it would seem, are not for budging and the Italian has claimed to have had reassurances from the club’s hierarchy.

“He is one of the best 18-year-olds in Europe so it is very difficult,” Sarri said of the situation in his pre-Bournemouth presser this afternoon.

“The club told me he is out of the market for sure. He is maybe out of the market in July.”

Sarri stressed that he’s pleased with the efforts of the academy product under what’s been a testing set of circumstances.

“I am not frustrated with Hudson-Odoi, he is doing very well in matches and training. I am very happy with him but not the overall situation of course.

Every big team here in England has the same problem. It isn’t easy to keep young players.

“I cannot do anything as you know very well. If I had the power to sign him a new contract then I would do everything. It is impossible to say he will play every match.”

Hudson Odoi scored for Chelsea in their FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.
