Kenya to remain steadfast in supporting the reconstruction of Somalia

 

President Kenyatta has assured that Kenya remains steadfast in supporting the reconstruction of Somalia.

The head of state gave his remarks today after the Somali Government sent a message of goodwill to Kenya.

The President hosted Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire at State House earlier today.

In the discussions,  Kenyatta said that he is happy that Somalia is on a positive trajectory – economically, socially, and in its relations with global partners.

This according to him is proof that these counts as fruit of Kenya’s support to Somali.

“I am happy that Somalia is on a positive trajectory – economically, socially, and in its relations with global partners. This is proof that ’s efforts to restore peace in the country are bearing fruits. Kenya remains steadfast in supporting the reconstruction of Somalia.” he said

The PM said his country appreciates the key role played by Kenya in the stabilization and reconstruction of their nation. He commended President Kenyatta, saying he is a true champion of Somalia’s transformation.

“Your Excellency, you are our champion in the transformation of Somalia and we request you to continue leading in the efforts of reconstructing our nation,” said PM Khaire.

The Prime Minister assured President Kenyatta that Somalia stands in solidarity with Kenya in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

Prime Minister Khaire said the strong partnership between the two countries is good for the stability and progress of the East African region.

Present were Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ababu Namwamba, Somali Ambassador to Kenya Mohamud Amed Nur and the Deputy Head of Somali Mission Ali Mohamed Sheikh.
