DPP Haji reveals Lydia Achieng serving 10 yr sentence lied on TV

A woman by the name Lydia Achieng has been on many lips in sympathy following the airing of the video that alleged she has been imprisoned at the Lang’ata womens Prison after false accusations were implicated on her.

Achieng’ narrated how a trip upcountry saw her adopt a young girl whose parents had been deceased. Years later the grown teenager fell in love with a boy whose parent opposed the relationship thus in anger constructed false eveidence that sent Achieng to prison despite testimony admitting to the fabricationby the accuser.

The DPP on Sunday had promised to investigate the matter after an emotional Achieng’ claimed that a neighbour identified as Sophie had falsely accused her of defiling her son.

“Attached media clip has been brought to the attention of the DPP. Despite the fact that convict was charged during the era of police prosecutors and before the 2010 Constitution, the DPP has directed that an immediate followup be done,” read a statement posted on the official website of the office of the DPP.

However it has further been alleged that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Tuesday exposed the lady citing that she was lawfully incarcerated contrary to her allegations

Reportedly the DPP has come out to quash the allegations. According to the DPP, the woman lied to the media over the defilement case.

Prison authorities yesterday said a woman allegedly wrongly convicted for a sex offence had declined media interviews, citing an assurance by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to have her case reviewed.
