German philosopher Karl Marx once deduced that religion is opium of the poor and Atheists in Kenya President Harrison Mumia fully agrees with this statement. Mumia, a hostile opposer of God’s existence, said he will be undeterred in his opposition of religious faith since it was not a good foundation for progress of nations.

Speaking in an interview, Mumia instead alluded religious faith was a danger to the progress of the country politically, morally and economically.

Despite the freedom of religion and belief being enshrined in the Bill of Rights in Kenya’s Constitution, Mumia believes it was time young children not to be taught Christian and Islam faith in school as it was brainwashing them to believe in a ‘false’ creation story.

“I am against the teaching of the Bible because they are neither factual nor logical. Our history is what brought Kenya and the world where we are. Christianity and Islam never brought new knowledge to Africa when missionaries toured this region,” he claimed. He was categorical that only science was logical and had transformed the world to what it has become today.

“Scientists have made more discoveries. They show how the world became. These discoveries by science show that religion has no foundation and there’s no existence of supreme being,” he added. Mumia also accused Repentance and Holiness ministries flamboyant founder Prophet David Owuor of taking advantage of poor Kenyans by selling them miracles. “Somebody like David Owuor is taking advantage of high poverty levels in the country to fleece already desperate Kenyans.

He claims he does miracles. We should not stop criticising him only because he says he is speaking with guidance of God. Whatever he is doing is not right,” the atheist argued. He says he is anti theist because he wants to save poor Kenyans from religious enslavement.
