Why Gonzalo Higuain Said ‘No’ To Scoring On His Chelsea Debut

Speaking to Chelsea TV after the FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday, Willian dropped an interesting comment.

Willian scored twice against the Owls including a first half penalty.

The Brazilian was asked why Gonzalo Higuain didn’t take the spot-kick.

Willian confirmed that he offered Higuain the chance to score from the spot, however the Argentine said ‘no’. Willian explained:

“I wanted to give him the ball. I wanted him to score his first goal today. It will come soon.”

After Willian put Chelsea ahead from the spot, Callum Hudson-Odoi doubled the lead after the hour.

Willian completed the scoring for the Blues seven minutes from time.

Higuain played 82 minutes of the match before he was replaced by Olivier Giroud.

helsea are back in Premier League action on Wednesday night when they head to Bournemouth.

Chelsea are fourth in the league with 47 points.

Arsenal and Man United are three points behind the Blues and breathing down their necks.

As for Bournemouth, they’ve slid down the table in recent months. The Cherries are 12th in the division with 30 points.
