During Governor Mike Sonko’s last interview with Jeff Koinange citizen TV show JKL, Sonko raised eyebrows after cameras exposed bundles of cash he was carrying with him.

However his communication’s director Jacob Elkana has since clarrified that he had carried the money because, after the interview, he was scheduled to visit Pumwani Hospital to elp offset bills for patients.

He also made it clear that Sonko had broken no law by carrying the wads of cash, given that the money was not attained by any illegal means.

“It is not a crime for any Kenyan to walk around with money in his pocket so long as the currency is legal, not defaced and was not suspiciously acquired,” Elkana noted.

This comes after Sonko was seen carrying what seemed to be a gun during the rescue operations at the Dusit D2 Riverside Drive attack.

While Elkana countered that what Sonko was carrying in his pockets was a gun, claiming that it was a power bank, the governor came clean on the JKL interview confirming that it was an actual gun which was for refence.
