Eric Kiraithe Leads the Country in Paying tribute to RECCE Squad Officer killed at Riverside

Government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe led other senior officials, friends and family in paying tribute to fallen Recce officer Japhet Nuru who died while saving many people during last week’s bloody terror attack at 14 Riverside.

A requiem mass for the fallen hero was held on Friday at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi. The gallant soldier was eulogised as a generous, caring and a young man with a big heart.

Family members, friends, politicians and top police officers turned up to pay their last respects to the soldier who has captured the hearts of many after his heroics during the attack.

“Japheth died as a hero. He died so that Kenyans can be rescued from instant death,” Kiraithe said. He said the government will not be cowed by terror threats but will fight and defeat them.

Taveta MP Naomi Shabaan acknowledged Nuru as a disciplined officer who volunteered in many cases to ensure that things are better.

Nuru will be laid to rest at his home in Taveta on Saturday. His body will leave Nairobi abode a police helicopter on Friday. Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has already said that he will be attending the burial while Matiang’i is also expected to be there.

The government is also building an ultramodern permanent house for the fallen hero.
