Why Monica Kimani’s murder case is still haunting Jackie Maribe

For the better part of 2018, the ghost of bad luck has been haunting Citizen TV presenter Jackie Maribe after she was linked to the murder of Nairobi businesswoman Monica Kimani.

Even as her lawyers successfully secured her released through bail, it is now an open secret that Maribe will know her fate as from June 27, 2019.

While ruling on her bail case,Justice James Wakiaga mentioned that the hearing of the case would commence as from June 18-27, 2019 of which a ruling would be issued thereafter.

In the probe, Maribe and her boyfriend Joe Irungu alias Jowie were directly linked to the businesswoman’s death where her body was found lying in a pool of blood at her Lamuria Garden Apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani area on September 19, 2018.

The duo was later picked up by a team of investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to write their statements. What later followed is them being held in police custody pending investigations.

Even as Maribe successfully challenged the court to free her on bail terms, her boyfriend Irungu is still being held at the Kamiti Maximum prison pending the hearing and determination of the case.

It is now a game of wait-and-see if the duo will finally be set free or whether they will be held fully responsible for the heinous act.
