Nairobi man kills own children before attempting kill himself

Joseph Simiyu 35 is the main suspect behind alleged poisoning of his two daughters Melisa Simiyu 10 and Venesa Simiyu 3, on Tuesday, January 22.

According to a report from Buruburu Police Station Millicent Anyango the mother of the deceased children arrived at their Burma Market home only to find the door locked with a padlock.

“She found the door locked with a padlock and upon peeping into the house she saw her two children lying on the floor with blood oozing from their mouths and nostrils and she came to report the matter” read part of the police report.

The police officers who responded to her alarm broke into the house and found the two children dead on the floor. According to the police, the suspect could have poisoned the children using a blend of two acaricides and soda.

“Two bottles of Triatix and Bedlum insecticides and two soda bottles were found at the scene. The children’s bodies had no visible physical injuries,” the police stated. Police said Simiyu had two knife cuts on the chest having attempted to stab himself to death.

He was arrested and is under police custody helping detectives probe the cause and motive of the children’s death. The deceased were taken to City mortuary where a postmortem will be conducted ti ascertain cause of their death.
