The current talk in town, is Fred Matiang’i’s deservedly promotion to the position of chief minister or Prime Minister of you want it.

In this new position, Dr Matiang’i will now be chairing meetings that bring together all Cabinet secretaries, Attorney-General Kihara Kariuki, and Head of Civil Service Joseph Kinyua.

Nobody can argue about the fact that Matiang’i is the best performing Minister in the current government. But while service oriented leaders are rewarded, President Uhuru Kenyatta should also crack the whip on Css who have no idea what their duties entail.

No Minister is ill suited for the job more than Rashid Echesa, the Sports Cabinet Secretary. Since his appointment, Echesa has attended more funerals than he has been to a stadium to watch any game.

Echesa has no idea what his portfolio entails. Instead he has been involved in catfights with Kakamega Senator Malala and COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli.

According to Mwingi West Member of Parliament Charles Ngusya Nguna, the Sportts CS has been disappointing. He has appealed to Uhuru to axes Echesa and appoint someone who is passionate about sports.

In a wide ranging interview with Citizen Digital, Nguna who is also a member of the House Sports Committee said: “We need a sports person in that ministry; we need a passionate person who can source for funds, a person who can travel with the teams like Harambee Stars …”

According to Ngusya, the President should reshuffle his cabinet and appoint a young person to the post.
