Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has invited his predecessor Evans Kidero to help him sort the transport menace around the city’s CBD.

Kidero confirmed this during an interview with Citizen TV’s Sam Gituku on Monday.

“I saw Governor Sonko in Mombasa last week and he said he was going to invite me for a chat. I am looking forward to working with Governor Sonko”

Kidero, the former Nairobi governor, who is battling several court cases also revealed that failure to sort out the mess in the transport sector is one of his biggest regrets during his time at City Hall.

The Nairobi Matatu mess has been a thorny issue for Mike Sonko. There was an uproar last year when he banned Matatus from accessing the CBD forcing commuters to walk for longer distances to work.

The governor suspended the ban, saying he wanted to pave way for consultations with stakeholders. It is not clear what his next move will be but we hope that Kidero will give him some ideas.
