Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has called on the Government to move with speed to investigate and in the process establish the people responsible for the rising number of missing Youths from Kakamega County and especially in Shinyalu.

A good number of families in Kenya have complained of missing relatives who disappeared and completely cut communication with them. Many of the disappearing Kenyans are always youths with claims that they cross the border to Somalia to join the Alshabaab always surfacing.

The Dusit D2 attack painted a clear picture of what actually happens when these youths cross the border after it emerged that the faces behind the attack had at some point in their lives crossed the border to Somalia. Suicide bomber Khalid Mahir Riziki and Salim Ali Gichunge are all said to have stepped foot in Somalia only to later return to rain havoc on innocent Kenyans.

Salim Gichunge’s wife, Veronica Kemunto is also on the police radar with claims that she once visited Somalia coming up. In fact the police who arae currently in search of her believe that she is currently in Somalia.

In view of the above, Bonie Khalwale wants the government to pitch tent in Kakamega to help prevent future deadly occurrences like that at Dusit where homegrown youths rained chaos on their fellow innocent Kenyans.

“The national security organs must pitch tent in Kakamega and establish who is (are) behind the disappearance of our youth (mainly from Shinyalu) from their homes to join Al-Shabaab camps in Somalia,” said Khalwale.

Khalwale knows the pain of being a victim of the Alshabaab after his daughter was last week trapped in the Dusit D2 complex following an attack by armed gunmen.

This comes even after the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights in a presser last year said that the number of Kenyan youth joining terror groups such Al Shaabab and Islamic State in Somalia (ISIS) has greatly reduced.
