Why Higuain to Chelsea has delayed

With reports during the week indicating that Chelsea have agreed terms with Juventus over the six months loan of Gonzalo Higuain, the transfer is still yet to be completed.

With Higuain currently serving a season-long loan to AC Milan, the Italian giants are unwilling to let the striker before they can land his replacement. Reports have suggested that AC Milan have struck a deal with Genoa over the transfer of Krzysztof Piatek who is the Serie A second top scorer with a goal behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

Chelsea’s deal with Higuain is set to be a six-month loan, but can be extended to another 12 months should he have certain credentials filled. Both loans have an option to buy in them, which is something Chelsea would definitely take up should the Argentine be at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Chelsea game against Arsenal, Sarri was asked about Higuain’s deal, “I don’t know [what the latest is]. I want to be clear, because I cannot help you. I spoke with Marina two weeks ago, so Marina knows my opinion on how to improve the team. Then I decided to focus on the pitch, on matches and training.”
