The battle between Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i is over.

This came after the High Court terminated  CS Matiang’is request to have t Businessman’s  Wanjigi certificate to have firearms revoked.

According to High Court Justice  Judge John Mativo,  the decision in the letter dated January 30, last year, revoking Wanjigi’s licence was illegal.

He further added saying that the businessman  had demonstrated sufficient grounds to warrant the court to grant him judicial review reliefs sought.

The court further noted that Matiang’i had made public utterances prior and after the revocation of the Wanjigi’s certificate.

Inn addition the court said that the utterances were directed at persons in the opposition or associated with the opposition. “The utterances leave any reasonable observer with no doubt that he, the CS, was openly biased against the class of persons,” the court said.

Wanjigi and Matiang’i crossed paths in 2018 March after police stormed his car blocking his way at Museum Hill after he was accused  of importing prohibited firearms and skipping court summons.

He was later charged with the offence. Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo, however, declined to issue a warrant of arrest for  Wanjigi whose tribulations began when he stood his ground in support for Raila Odinga-led National Super Alliance (NASA) party.
