Wajir West heads to the ballot after Supreme Court’s Friday ruling

Every Friday is a black Friday, but to Wajir West Constituency Member of Parliament Ahmed Kolosh, it turned out to be a dark Friday! The Supreme Court  while delivering its ruling into 2017 election petitions has nullified the election of the Wajir West legislator. The Court has maintained that Kolosh is not a valid winner of the 2017 parliamentary polls due to irregularities witnessed at Qara polling station.

The Supreme Court has instead ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct fresh elections in the constituency.

The Court however upheld the elections of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip of Jubilee Party and Gatundu North MP Wanjiku Kibe.
