Gor Mahia FC midfielder Kenneth Muguna was left behind as the Kenyan champions departed for Cameroon on Friday morning for their CAF Confederation Cup assignment against New Stars de Douala.

Muguna has reportedly put himself at loggerheads with the club after protesting his lack of playtime and staged a walkout on the technical bench after realizing he was not selected to start against Mount Kenya on Wednesday.

Gor’s regular starters in central defence, Joash Onyango and captain Harun Shakava, were also excluded from the travelling party as the pair is currently serving CAF suspensions over indiscipline.

Earlier, Gor head coach Hassan Oktay had told his players to beware of ‘dirty’ tactics employed by teams from North and West Africa as they seek to nail a place in the Confederation Cup group stages.

The Kenyan champions carry a 2-1 advantage into the playoff clash against New Stars with a place in the group stages at stake for the aggregate winner on Sunday.

‘’I have told them to prepare psychologically as this could be a hostile environment. They already know what to expecting terms of hospitality and I know we will progress,’’ Oktay said.
