Do Manchester United Really need Coutinho when they have this excellent Player?

The Red Devils emerged as a destination for the Brazilian this month, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo. Coutinho moved to Barcelona from rivals Liverpool last year in a £142m deal. But the midfielder has struggled with the Spanish giants, who are looking to offload him.

The 26-year-old may struggle to get into United’s team, though. Paul Pogba has scored four goals and made four assists in that position under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And the football finance expert believes the Frenchman’s comeback is a problem for the deal. Speaking exclusively to Starsport, he said: “Six weeks ago, he would have been a potential player for United.

“The re-emergence of Pogba as a dynamic midfielder going forward has made him less necessary. Coutinho would be a glamour buy rather than a necessity.”

The expert went on to predict how much the Brazilian would be for the Red Devils. “Barcelona want to sell him and his family don’t want to come back to England,” Maguire added.

“They want to make sure they don’t lose out on this. But his time at Barcelona has been good but not brilliant. He’s effectively treaded water.

“He’s clearly a very good player but Barcelona are still so dependant on [Luis] Suarez and [Lionel] Messi, so he’s essentially gone under the radar.

“He’s still only 26, so his best years are ahead of him. I think it will be around £125m for him.”
