Nairobi’s most feared bulldozer SANY lands on a Naivasha Hotel

The controversial hotel constructed on the riparian land around Lake Naivasha has been brought down following a notice from the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).

The hotel which was been constructed by Chinese investor was declared illegal and the owners given a 14 day notice to bring it down.Last week, the environmental authority directed that the hotel that is located in Boffer farm in Naivasha be brought down within two weeks.A senior NEMA official who declined to be named confirmed the demolition adding that they had served notices to other hotels on the riparian land.

The official said that the owners of the hotel had adhered to the notice from the authority as they would have been charged in court if the 14 day notice had expired.

“We are happy to report that the hotel in Boffer farm which was illegally constructed on riparian land has been demolished,” said the official.

According to the chairman Lake Naivasha Boat owners association David Kilo, the hotel that was about to be opened up had since been brought down.Kilo admitted that the hotel was on riparian land and lauded NEMA for moving in to stop its construction as it would have interfered with the ecosystem of the lake.

“This is just the begging and the authority should move with speed and demolish all structures on the riparian land,” he said.

Kilo who is also a honorary game warden noted with concern over the mushrooming of illegal structures around the water body.He lashed at some flower farms and hotels for the current environmental crisis noting that it was time legal action was taken against them.
