Dennis Oliech grabs another goal as Gor Mahia thrash Mount Kenya United

Erisa Ssekisambu scored the first 2018-2019 Kenyan Premier League hat-trick as arguably Kenya’s best striker Dennis Oliech also scored in the 4-1 rout of Mount Kenya United in a rescheduled fixture at the MISC Kasarani on Wednesday 16th January.

Looking to build some momentum ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup second leg playoffs against New Stars de Douala, Hassan Oktay fielded a strong start against Mount Kenya United who are languishing at the bottom of the table and yet to pick up a win this season.

Gor Mahia just needed three minutes to break the deadlock when George Blackberry Odhiambo fed Ugandan import Erisa Ssekisambu to score his second league goal in K’Ogalo colors since making the switch from reigning Ugandan Premier League champions Vipers.

Gor Mahia resumed the second half a stronger side as they sought an assurance goal to put the game beyond MKU. Dennis Oliech who has been proving his doubters wrong since coming from retirement slotted his second goal for Gor Mahia at the stroke of the hour mark when he converted a penalty after Kevin Thairu brought down Francis Mustapha inside the box.

Hassan Oktay’s charges got their third goal in the 77th minute with a goal made in Uganda as Eris Ssekisambu tapped in a cross after being fed by his compatriot Shafik Batambuze. Ssekisambu sent a message to Oktay as his staked his claim to start in the return leg against New Stars with a hat trick in the 93rd minute as Dennis Oliech provided him the assist. The win propelled Gor Mahia to fourth spot while MKU are left searching for their first win of the season after eight games.
