How some police are making a kill from international illicit brew business

Police officer are there to help the nation maintain law and order but some tend to defy their role. Isn’t illicit brew illegal in the country?Yes, it is a law and police have to help in maintaining it. However, some police are taking part in the illegal businesses across the country. Two AP officers in Western Kenya could serve this example better. The officers were last evening arrested in Mumias, Kakamega, after they were caught allegedly ferrying illicit liquor in a police vehicle.

The officers were arrested alongside a trader identified at Mayoni after members of the public reported that the vehicle was ferrying suspicious goods.

Mumias police boss Peter Katam said the illicit liquor is believed to have been sneaked into the country through the Busia border and was being ferried to Kakamega Town.

The nabbed alcohol, which was in sachets, was estimated to be worth Sh200,000. The three were detained at Mumias police station as further investigations continue ahead of their arraignment.
