Chelsea boss not sure of Willian’s future

With reports linking Willian to Barcelona, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri seems uncertain over the Brazilian’s future at the club despite admitting that he is an important player.

Barcelona have been on the pursuit for Willian since the summer transfer window and seem to have reignited their interest on the winger. Reports have suggested that Barcelona would be willing to pay some cash and a swap deal for Malcom to try to convince Chelsea to make the deal, something that would be around £50million for the Blues should they go through with it.

Sarri was asked about Willian’s links with Barcelona in a pre-match press conference ahead of the Newcastle United tie, “I didn’t receive anything yesterday. You have to ask the club. Call the club and ask about the market because if you ask me about the market you put me in trouble because I don’t know what to answer.

“Of course not [don’t want to lose him] because he is really very important. I think that he can do better. He can do better because the potential is higher but he is really very important for us and it is impossible to lose him in January.”
