Athletic Bilbao have voiced their desire to bring Herrera back to Spain over the summer, but the 29-year-old, who joined Man United in 2014, is happy in Manchester and wants to remain at the club. Most supporters want him to stay too. Young, now 33, is likewise open to extending his future at Old Trafford but will ask for reassurances over the amount of playing time he is likely to receive under the next manager before making a decision.

Mata, according to ESPN‘s Rob Dawson, is ‘keen’ to stay at United but has attracted interest from a number of clubs, and may well fall down the pecking order if Mauricio Pochettino takes over. He has not been a shoe-in under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer either. The United hierarchy feel ‘confident’ about keeping the experienced trio. Whether they can say the same for David de Gea and Anthony Martial, however, remains an open question.
