Manchester receives Pogba boost ahead of Spurs clash

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is expected back in the team and fit enough to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 13 January, after missing the match against Reading in the FA Cup last week due to injury.

United have had a favorable fixture schedule in the past five matches, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the temporary manager, winning all the five in his stay at the team so far. This game is billed to be the first real test for the Red Devils and the coach will be keen to have Pogba available.

“He (Pogba) looked OK towards the end (of training) so he’ll be fit. He did have some problem but he came through the last couple of sessions well. He’ll be OK.”

The Norwegian manager however played down the importance of the clash and maintained that he has never had it easy since his arrival.

“We’ve had tests. Newcastle away is a test, the first game at Cardiff is a test, the first home game is a test. You get tested in every single game in the Premier League. But, of course, Sunday’s game is against a top, top side. If we want to get closer to (Tottenham), we need a good performance and a good result,” he said.

Pogba has scored four goals since Solskjaer took over and has been one key member of the team in recent weeks. Since joining United from Juventus, the Frenchman in his 94 starts (7 off the bench) has scored 23 goals and provided 23 assists.
