East or West!… Chelsea star eyeing Real Madrid return

Troubled Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata looks primed for a move to La Liga side Atletico Madrid after the Spanish side’s head coach Diego Simeone fueled the reports with a refusal to confirm or deny the constant links with the striker who is said to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

With Atleti rivals Sevilla also said to be interested in the striker, Simeone was coy on the latest development following Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Girona in the Copa del Rey. He instead sought to draw his team’s discussion towards the next game, against Levante.

“The only thing I’m thinking about is the upcoming match against Levante,” Simeone told reporters. “I don’t speak about players that aren’t with us, only those that are. I can’t confirm or deny anything because coaches wait to see what the club can do.

“Some players want more minutes, some could be sold by the club, and some could arrive. We need to wait until January 31.”

Morata who has only managed nine goals in all competitions this term, has scored just 16 Premier League goals since joining Chelsea from Atletico’s arch rivals Real Madrid in a reported £60million transfer in July 2017.

Despite the London club loaning out Belgian Michy Batshuayi to Valencia at the start of this season, the Spanish striker has seen less game time under new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri who prefers to use Eden Hazard as an auxiliary number nine or Oliver Giroud as his main striker.
