Manchester United receives a major boost

According to photos posted online, Paul Pogba trained with his Manchester United team-mates in Dubai on Tuesday after joining them on Monday. The Frenchman did not board the original flight with his team-mates at the weekend because he had not completely recovered from the knock he sustained against Newcastle and stayed behind for further treatment.

Pogba completed a full 90 minutes in the 2-0 victory at St James’ Park last week, but grimaced as he hobbled past reporters onto the team bus post-match and was not involved in the FA Cup win against Reading a few days later. The 25-year-old was subject to a number of tough tackles during the game and footage of one late challenge, from Newcastle substitute Jonjo Shelvey, went viral on social media.

But, after flying out on his own on Monday, Pogba was back training at the Nad Al Sheba Complex on Tuesday. The midfielder was pictured taking part in some TRX suspension training alongside Alexis Sanchez, Antonio Valencia, Andreas Pereira, Marouane Fellaini and Eric Bailly. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope his talisman will now be in contention to play against Spurs at Wembley on Sunday and the next couple of days at Al Sheba will have a big say on that as his squad are put through their paces.

As well as two international-sized football pitches and a state of the art gym, there is an athletics track, altitude facilities, climate chambers, medical clinics, a performance lab, a cryotherapy ice chamber, a swimming pool and a number of indoor arenas on offer at the complex. United have had a hectic schedule of games over the Christmas and New Year period, and as a result this is the first extended period of preparation time that Solskjaer has had with his new players
