Eriksen may reject £250,000 Spurs offer for £100m move

Real Madrid ‘have made initial steps’ to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham this year.

Eriksen has 18 months left on his contract at Tottenham, with manager Mauricio Pochettino stating that negotiations are ongoing.

It is believed that Tottenham have made the player an offer, but Eriksen continues to stall over a decision.

The Independent claim that Tottenham are ‘willing to offer him around £200,000 to £250,000 a week,’ but that Eriksen’s ‘concerns are not financial’.

Instead, the Denmark international wants to ‘play for one of Spain’s major clubs in his prime,’ and, at the age of 26, is contemplating trying ‘a new football culture’.

Barcelona had been previously interested in the midfielder but are no longer in the running, which leaves Real Madrid with a clear run at persuading Eriksen to join.

The Spanish giants have pinpointed the Tottenham star and Eden Hazard as their main summer targets, with both players having contracts that expire in 2020. But Spurs ‘are seen by Madrid as likelier to sell for a fee in the last year’.

They have therefore taken the first steps over what could be ‘a £100m deal’ for Eriksen, with the possibility of Isco moving to north London in a part-exchange deal also mooted.
