Over 70 youth arrested with fake letters in KDF training school

Back to the draw, as Kenyans eye on Noordin Haji to kill corruption at the top, down below there is a large number of individuals involved in corruption that are getting nabbed. Perhaps the whole country should shape up don’t you think?

Over 70 youth were on Sunday arrested with fake letters at the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Recruits Training School in Eldoret.

According to KDF spokesperson Colonel Paul Njuguna, the youth from various parts of the country were nabbed during a crackdown on fake documentation used by youth to join the training school.

Speaking to journalistsCol. Njuguna said the suspects will be presented in court on Monday to face charges.

In 2018, over 100 youth were also arrested with fake letters while trying to join the KDF training.

KDF was keen in recruiting, tradesmen and women with diploma qualifications in various fields such as computer science, journalism, medical laboratory, library, architecture, welding, automotive engineering.

Other areas are: public health, dental technology, radiography, survey, cooperative management, community oral health, pharmacy and social work.

Tradesmen had to have a minimum mean grade of D (plain) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary School to qualify for the general recruits.

The military was looking for general recruits, tradesmen/women and constables. Former Kenya Defence Forces members who served at least 9 years colour service and former National Youth Servicemen were eligible for recruitment as constables.

President Uhuru Kenyatta commended efforts by the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) to modernize its operations including training to effectively deal with emerging security challenges.

The President said the need to adjust, modernize and diversify KDF’s training is so as to ensure Kenya remains safe from emerging security threats that could not be over emphasized.
