Is Murathe’s resignation targeted at joining Uhuru’s Cabinet?

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ally, who has been an interim Vice Chairman of Jubilee Party David Murathe has bowed to pressure and resigned from the Party’s mandate. This follows pressure from Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s allies who have consistently called for Murathe’s resignation following his remarks on DP Ruto’s retirement.

Murathe had remarked that DP Ruto should resign alongside President Kenyatta in 2022, cituing that Mt Kenya bloc had no any MoU with Ruto, thus owed him nothing.

He cited his bid to block Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid as the reason behind his resignation.

However, Murathe’s resignation comes amid speculations that President Kenyatta is working on a plan to reshuffle his cabinet. Could this be Murathe’s target? Well, Murathe might have just resigned to give himself a chance to get a slot in the looming cabinet reshuffle.

Kenyans on twitter have risen a debate on Murathe’s resignation, reacting in different ways, with some speculating something within Jubilee party.
