Arsenal boss speaks on Petr Cech future

With his contract set to expire in June, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed that Petr Cech’s future at the club is not yet decided.

Cech joined Arsenal in 2015 from London rivals Chelsea in a £10 million deal but has fallen down the pecking order at the club with the arrival of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

The Cech Republic international played a number of games for The Gunners up until he suffered an injury in the 2-0 win over Watford back in September.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the FA Cup tie against Blackpool, Emery was asked about the developments in Cech’s contract talks, “I don’t know now. It’s a question to do with the club and with the player. When he played at the start of the season he started very well, with very good behaviour, commitment and also performance.

“And then he had his injury, Bernd Leno started playing with a big performance also. But I am happy with him. We will speak in the future with the player and the club, but at the moment I want his focus the same on each training and each match.”
