Kilifi top 5 KCPE students awarded with scholarships

Earlier yesterday, Kilifi county was privileged to receive 5 scholarships from the Co-operative Bank of Kenya which we awarded to the 5 best KCPE students in last year’s exam.

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi gave thanks  to the Cooperative Bank of Kenya for its relentless efforts in ensuring bright and needy pupils have access to education.

Education in Kilifi County remains to be a  big challenge  as many factors such a poverty and early pregnancy serve as a big set back in the county.

During the 2018 examination period, Kilifi was  leading in the cases of pregnancy as compared to other counties.

The mentality of many individuals in the county has still not woken up to the realization that there is a big need of positive productivity in the county.

Although efforts by the county government to strengthen the system   have put up several initiatives, there is still need for more.

With such scholarship opportunities, this could serve as a big motivation point for student to  focus on their studies.

Apart from the scholarships, the governor also noted that a total of Ksh. 350M is allocated annually and distributed evenly among all the 35 wards in Kilifi County, thereby increasing retention and completion rates in secondary and tertiary learning institutions and universities countywide.
