Keylor Navas signs a one-year extension with Real Madrid

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has renewed his contract with the club for an extra year, taking his new deal to June 2021.

The Costa Rican has fallen out of favour since the arrival of Thibaut Courtois and, since the appointment of Santiago Solari as head coach, his minutes have dwindled further.

The TV show ‘Jugones’ on LaSexta broke the news and it has now been confirmed by MARCA.

Navas signed the contract a few weeks ago and he will earn five million euros net per season; negotiations had been going on since Los Blancos’ tour of the United States in the summer.

This also confirms that the 32-year-old will not be going anywhere in January.Although his situation at the club is not perfect right now, both Navas and his family have perfectly adapted to the club and the city of Madrid.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper had been linked with a switch to the Gunners in the January transfer window but it seems he’s not on the club’s radar
Unai Emery has dismissed speculation that Arsenal could be looking at signing Keylor Navas from Real Madrid.

Spanish newspaper Sport had claimed that the Gunners could offer Navas an escape route from Madrid, with the 32-year-old having been demoted to a back-up role behind summer signing from Chelsea Thibaut Courtois.

The report went as far as suggesting that Emery’s side had lodged a €16 million (£14m/$18m) bid and that the player had already said his goodbyes to his Madrid team-mates.
