President Kenyatta tackles the judiciary on war against graft

President Kenyatta has today reassured Kenyans on the war against corruption and has for a second time called upon the judiciary to play its part on the war against corruption.

Kenyatta urged the judiciary to expeditiously and independently deal with the cases in accordance to Kenyans expectations.

“It is the Judiciary to tell us now whether someone is guilty or not, that’s their jurisdiction. What we are saying is that Kenyans are tired of seeing cases take years to be resolved. The Judiciary needs to expedite these cases” he said

President Kenyatta also assured that the war against corruption is on course, saying that the DPP and DCI are working towards bringing all culprits to book.

“It is my hope that the Judiciary will also deliver on it’s mandate.” he said

The head of state also noted that corruption is based on individual deeds it has no colour, religion or race and no one should use these to deny Kenyans justice in instances of corrupt cases.

Kenyatta added that the government will not dictate to the judiciary since they have the responsibility to  adjudicate in a speedy and conclusive  manner.

The President also noted that the judiciary cannot use their independence to keep the whole country at bay.

He also  added that Kenyans are tired of seeing cases taking long before the judiciary give jurisdiction.

“As the executive we have done our part. We have worked to make sure that all departments charged with investigating cases of corruption have all the support. We ask the judiciary to support this fight” he noted

During the Jamuhuri day celebrations, Kenyatta urged the Judiciary not to allow being used to promote impunity.

Kenyatta said that through the efforts of  investigative agencies and the office of the DPP individuals who may have thought they were untouchable are now facing the full force of the law.
