President Kenyatta highlights legacy plan to end corruption

President Kenyatta has today  declared  corruption as a national fight. A fight that he says belongs to every single citizen of Kenya regardless of gender or tribe.

The head of state  said that his priority is to ensure that he leaves office with the legacy of bringing an end to corruption.

He also mentioned that anybody who desires a better Kenya is part of this fight and everyone should take up responsibility.

Speaking on the gaps in the judiciary which have been slowing down the war against graft, Kenyatta said that the judiciary must play its part to contribute in this war.

“I am calling upon the Judiciary to play its part, and do it expeditiously. For Kenyans to know the verdict on the cases before them, and to know why and how the verdict was arrived at” he said

The head of state said that the ability to show victory in the war against corruption is purely in convictions.

“I don’t look at particular office as the most important or least in this fight on corruption. Everybody has a role to play. Let everyone play their part, which will help us build and make a better Republic for the people of Kenya” he stated

Kenyatta  also added that currently, Kenya has a strong system and strong cases and therefore there is hope that the war on corruption will be brought to an end.

He also responded to the claims that some people are untouchable in this war saying that he has no friends, brother or sister when it comes to corruption.

Anyone who gets involved should face the law. He also indicated that he will continue to remind  people on their responsibilities in the war of graft.

“I will continue to remind people holding state offices that their positions are not to help themselves or selfish gains but because of the Kenyans who have  given them the opportunity to hold those positions” he said
