Boda Boda operators clashes with teen criminal gang

A clash between boda boda operators and alleged teenage gangsters left two people dead and four hospitalized on Friday morning in Likoni, Mombasa County.

Sources indicate that the gang members were armed with knives and pangas  as they planned to rob residents of Likoni area on Thursday night.

However, in a twist of events, the boda boda operators working on a tip-off descended on them in bid to reclaim their streets from teen criminal gangs.

Mombasa county police commander Johnston Ipara confirmed the incident warning the public against taking law into their hands.

The two died while receiving treatment at Coast General Hospital where the other four were admitted.

“We received six young boys… Most of them had deep cuts, especially on the head and neck. Upon arrival, two of them succumbed,” the hospital’s deputy chief administrator, Dr Mary Okello stated.

One of those who died was an eighteen-year-old man who was also a high school student set to join Form Three in 2019.

Another victim who sustained serious head injuries is a reportedly a class seven pupil at Burhan primary school in Mombasa.

Reports allege that relatives to those involved in the incident confessed that their sons   had been involved in suspicious activities.

“I have told you not to indulge in these criminal activities… do you want to kill your mother now?” an angry relative to one of the injured victims posed.
