Two die after crashing into a lorry in Gichiengo area, Lari subcounty.

The roads have been cold to Kenyans during this Christmas season as many precious lives have succumbed to tragic accidents.

In latest reports, a motorist and one of his passengers were killed on Thursday when their vehicle crashed into a lorry in Gichiengo area, Lari subcounty.

Lari OCPD Isaiah Odhiambo said the three other passengers in the private vehicle sustained serious injuries and were rushed to AIC Kijabe Hospital.

The lorry driver, Bernard Njuguna, and loader did not sustain injuries.

Njuguna said the motorist’s brakes might have failed, making him swerve onto the lorry’s lane.

“I saw the car moving towards our vehicle. I hooted, flashed headlights, but we collided,” he said.

Odhiambo urged motorists to drive cautiously.

The bodies were taken to Naivasha Hospital and the wreckage was towed to Lari police station.

Investigations are being conducted.

Recently as well,a truck ferrying alcoholic drinks overturned less than a kilometre to its destination.

The accident that occurred at 4 pm on Wednesday triggered a vicious scramble and those who were strong enough managed to sample the different brands from the loot.

It was not immediately established if the occupants of the truck had been injured but seeing the beneficiaries popping bottles using their premolars, not caring about scattered, sharp broken glasses insinuated their was no casualty.
