A high level, top secret meeting between Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and the founding First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta has caused jitters in DP Ruto’s camp. The initial news of the December 24 meeting, whose agenda remains unknown, was first broken by a furious Rift Valley senator with close ties to Deputy President William Ruto.
Initial reports alluded to the meeting being scheduled for Sagana Lodge hotel before the venue was changed at the eleventh hour and shifted to Mama Ngina’s Gatundu home.
“It does not worry us much these days,” said the irate senator. “We have always known something was wrong all along and everyone wonders how the other side chose to ignore us completely under guise of flimsy excuses,” declared the second term senator, clearly reading mischief in the new development.
But a top ODM parliamentary leader who asked not to be named had a different opinion of the meeting. “In the spirit of bringing the country together, the Prime Minister has mended bridges with his competitor and allied with all leaders in this country, including former presidents,” he pointed out. “It is only fair that in the same spirit, the Premier spares time to consult with the first lady, who by the way, is a celebrated freedom fighters” he differed.
