List of reasons our KDF soldiers have won humanitarian award this Christmas

We don’t ask them to do so, they simply volunteer to put their lives on the line for our security, as christians are celebrating the birth of their Saviour Christ the King, the Kenya Defence Forces have also been acknowledged as human life heroes.

To start with, the KDF soldiers on Christmas eve rescued a pregnant woman from the Boni Forest.

The woman who had been ‘labouring’ for almost four days was airlifted by a KDF chopper from Mangai village in Boni Forest to King Fahad Hospital in Lamu.

Lamu County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri says apart from maintaining security, KDF soldiers have been benevolent in ensuring the villagers around Boni Forest get access to treatment, education, water and food among other resources.

“If it were not for the KDF taking her to hospital in the helicopter, she would be probably have died considering how severe her situation was,” said one of the woman’s family members.

The woman was safely delivered of twin babies soon after arriving at the hospital.

Today Defence Cabinet Secretary Amb. Raychelle Omamo and Chief of the Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe visited KDF troops serving in various Operation Bases.

“I have come here to be with you and to share the spirit of this season with you, exceptional brave men and women. I want to let you know you are appreciated and that Kenyans are proud of you. We appreciate that you have stood firm and fought off threats to our motherland and stood firm, even in the face of great challenges. We thank you for the sacrifices you have made, even beyond the call of duty,” Amb Omamo said.

General Mwathethe conveyed Christmas greetings from the Commander-in-Chief, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Your being here will enable Kenyans to enjoy their Christmas and New Year festivities since they know that you are standing guard, ensuring the country is safe.” he said.

He thanked the soldiers for ensuring that Kenyans went about their daily lives in peace and recognized the sacrifices made by KDF families.
